At Castelfalfi is possible to admire a natural "Beechwood" at 200/300 mt above sea level, this is a peculiarity of Montaione's territory because this tree usually grows on the mountains over 1000 meters.
One of the most popular plant in Tuscany is the Olive. Is unique and precious the Tuscan Oil of Olive that distinguish the traditional Tuscan cuisine, but the Olive is also a fascinating tree that is possible to admire near Montaione at the cross with Viale da Filicaja and the road to San Vivaldo where there is a beautiful "Ulivo di Boemia".
On the road that from Montaione you get San Gimignano, in a locality called Poggio all'Aglione, there is a centenarian Holm-oak (quercus ilex) of 750 years old that with a circumference of 4,60 meters and a height of 13,50 meters is considered a monumental plant.
Another feature typical of the Tuscan countryside, and unmistakable subject of many pictures are the rounded clay hills with some trees leaved here and there by nature. Montaione that is located in the middle of Tuscany reserve this natural landscape on the road that start from Montaione to Santo Stefano and around the village of Sughera. This hill are covered by green in spring while became yellow in summer thank to cultivations of wheat.
Is also possible to enjoy singular landscapes and natural scene from the Sanctuary of Pietrina near Iano, in addiction to different kinds of mushrooms, arbutus, wild flowers and a breathtaking landscape on woods and clay hills of Volterra. From Castelfalfi it's also possible to admire a wonderful landscape above all at sunset, on the hills which colour change during seasons.
