The locality of Sughera is reached by following the road towards San Miniato until the bridge over the river Egola, turning left and crossing the hamlet of Alberi and climbing the hills, until you reach the junction with the road to Tonda and from here continuing towards to Sughera.
First news about Sughera or "Suvera" are relative to the castle given by the German Emperor Arrigo VI to the Bishop of Volterra Ildebrando Pannocchieschi in 1186.
In 1528 the church dedicated to Saints Peter and Cerbone, was assigned to benefit from Clement VII to Benedetto Baldovinetti bishop of Lucca. In 1745 had 124 inhabitants who became 244 in 1833.
Today, the village remains the old and narrow roads between the houses in brick and stones, the well in the square and the ruins of an ancient chapel, memories of a medieval Tuscan village.
The old church was destroyed in the'70s to build a new one.
