The settlements of Sughera or 'Suvera' dates back to 1186 when the German emperor presented the castle of Sughera to the bishop of Volterra.

In 1528 his church, dedicated to the Saint Pietro and Cerbone was presented as benefice from Clemente VII to Benedetto Baldovinetti bishop of Lucca. In 1745 there were 124 inhabitants that becomes 244 later in 1833.
