Montaione > Castelfalfi> Sughera > Piaggia > Montaione

This track does not present any difficulties and it is easy to cover in every season but only on foot, considering that there are two fords of Evola Torrent and two difficult slopes. It runs for three stretches in the wood and two stretches on asphalt road, which connect other parts of the track. The track runs along the ancient way that the peasants of the Piaggia farm used to cover to go to the village.

1. Montaione > Bosco Gucci > Cappella del Lupo

Km 2.6 - 45 mt 1 h e 30 min.

The track starts from Montaione: from Via Matteotti go towards via Ribaldi, a dirt road which, goes down towards the Evola river through, orchards on the slopes of the hill. Going down there are neither crossroads nor side streets, except for two private houses entrances. The second entrance is peculiar because the chain that close the road has joined itself with the tree to which it was fixed. Go on and reach the river. It is easy to cross in every season.
Then the track goes up until the municipal road Cerroni, and near the tumbledown house the disposition of the stones recall paving of the ancient way. Then there is a crossroad. Near the crossroad, on the right, there is an old holm-oak, and from that position one can see the village of Montaione. Going further along the slope, on the left, there is the farmhouse of Bosco Gucci and then the asphalt road.
Go on towards left until you find on the right another signpost that shows the starting point of another stretch in the wood. The track present traces (more or less visible) of the ancient paved road. Go down towards the Carfalo Torrent and cross it. Near this torrent one can admire some beautiful specimens of yew-trees- Then go up to reach the asphalt road to Castelfalfi.

2. Castelfalfi > Sughera

Km 3.1 - 60 mt 1 h e 30 min.

From Castelfalfi it starts from the right side of the Chapel surrounded by some cypresses (200 m from the reception). Take the dirt road that goes down amongst the olive groves, and then enter the wood. Go out of the wood and take the road on the left. Then pass the farmhouse of Falecine, going through vineyards.

From here you can have a view on hills and the village of Tonda. Then go on along the vineyard and the wood. Then leave the road, and go right until the end of the vineyard Then enter the wood following the path. Keep on the left and run along, the Torrent Carfalo. Cross it and turn right.

After few metres turm left for around 200 mt. Go on until reaching the little artificial lake. Cross the dam and proceed in the wood, towards Sughera until you reach the football field. Then take the asphalt toward Piaggia.

2. Piaggia > Galano (Montaione)

Km 3.3 + 45 mt 1 h e 15 min.

From Castellare di Tonda starts the stretch to come back to Montaione. It is a dirt road that gently goes up till the farm Piaggia an interesting example of ancient rural architecture. From the threshing-floor take the small path on the right, and after more or less 20 m. take the path on the left which runs along the hack of the farm. Then go down towards the Evola River and cross it near the old piers broken by flood. Then go up for 200 m. and reach the Podere Rocchine. Keep on, and proceed along the dirt road, and reach via Sanminiatese in Galano. On the right there is Montaione.
